Booths Ford is currently accessible from the south (along the river’s left bank) via Shelby County Road 251.  There is ample parking with unimproved access to the river at the old concrete ford.  Future accesses are planned for the Shelby County Cahaba River Park immediately across the river here, but if you are paddling to Living River, you will need to access the river on this side in order to easily drive to the take-out.  Please note that access to the Living River paddling accesses and camping for paddlers is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY with Living River, which you can contact at (205) 208-0035.

+River Segment - 2.9 miles

This beautiful section of river is wide and generally without obstacles, but there are a number of shoals that can slow you down in low water. If there is water consistently flowing across the concrete slab at Booths Ford, you should be able to clear the shoals. While old strip mines line the river along this section, most have been reclaimed by the forest and are not noticeable. In order to usse the Lebron Canoe Launch (or other launches) at Living River, you will need to call ahead to Living River to make an appointment. Their telephne number is ‭(205) 208-0035. The Alabama Scenic River Trail has also made arrangements with Living River to accommodate long-distance paddlers who wish to camp. To make such reservations, you will also need to contact Living River.
