At 19.1 miles this section is very long, and very few people will be able to paddle it in one day, even under the best conditions. There are very few signs of civilization along the way, which include a few houses near the put-in, followed by two oil pipelines, a power line, and a railroad bridge that each provide good reference for your position along the journey. Apart from these manmade features, you will see mostly rock formations, bluffs, woods, and wildlife as you paddle through largely wild country in the heart of the William R. Ireland, Sr. Cahaba River Wildlife Management Area. Before attempting this section, be sure that there will be enough flow in the river.
